RAD adds new mask detection feature to its autonomous security system

Artificial Intelligence Technology Solutions has reportedly announced that its robotics arm, Robotic Assistance Devices, has added an advanced mask detection feature to its property management and autonomous security devices. This system will support property managers and building owners with an autonomous security device that would generate automatic alerts, identify the use of face masks, and create face compliance scores.

According to the Founder and CEO of Robotic Assistance Devices, Steve Reinharz, it has become extremely crucial to wear masks for slowing down the transmission rate of communicable diseases like COVID-19. He has further stated that it will not be possible to fool the camera like screening methods such as temperature checks that can be easily fooled. Further, autonomous tools have added advantages as they promote accountability, ensure consistent enforcement of mask policies, and form an essential part of the company’s complete health screening solution, added Reinharz.

RAD states that when its system detects a person, who is not wearing a mask, it generates audible and visible alerts, as per customer preferences, that remind people to put on their masks. The generated alerts are stored in the cloud-based data storage system for data analysis by security executives and quick location of the videos of crucial incidents. The company has also provided the facility to activate the mask detection feature on all of its devices following customers’ requests.

Further, the installation process of this autonomous monitoring system is much easier as compared to the lengthy process of installing a CCTV system. The tool can be integrated into access control systems so that people who fail the screenings can be denied entry into the building. This system will be beneficial for monitoring mask compliance at workplaces and retail establishments.

The system is currently being assessed by retailers and facility managers at several locations and will be used to execute mask policies when customers and employees enter the store, and also for detecting people who would remove their masks inside the store.
