Apple Inc. is reportedly preparing to launch four new Macs which will be integrated with an M2 chip. The tech giant is likely to release a redesigned MacBook Air, a 24-inch iMac, Mac Mini, and a 13-inch MacBook Pro later this year.
Although Apple is yet to the rumors of a potential M2 chip, sources claimed that it will be slightly faster than the popular M1 chip. The M2 chip is likely to share the same eight-core architecture, however, its graphics core may jump to 10.
It is worth noting that Apple introduced its first in-house M1 chip in November 2020 and then debuted its M1 Pro as well as M1 Max chips. Likewise, Apple may also launch Pro and Max variants of the M2 chip as well as reveal an M3 chip in the making.
The larger iMac Pro equipped with the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips will replace the current 27-inch iMac Pro, apart from the Mac Pro that consists of either two or four M1 Max chips, sources claimed. The Mac Mini, on the other hand, will be integrated with an upgraded M1 Pro variant.
The company is already rumored to launch the 5G iPad Air, a budget-friendly 5G iPhone SE, and a new Mac this March. Apple will also release the iOS 15.4 update, which comes with a Face ID technology that can work through a face mask, sources confirmed.
In other news, some U.S. lawmakers were found to be concerned with how the iPhone-maker runs its AppStore. Experts believe that this could leave Apple playing defense against the legislation, which again would further loosen its grip on the profitable business model.
