Optus unveils plans to take over Amaysim, launches digital brand Gomo
Optus has reportedly announced plans for strengthening its presence in Australia’s MVNO (Mobile Virtual Network Operator) market. The organization intends to enter into a purchase agreement for the acquisition of Amaysim and is also planning to roll out a new digital brand, Gomo, that has been designed for customers in search of simple plans with budget friendly telecom services.
Gomo’s straight-forward subscription pricing is likely to attract value-conscious Australians looking for easy mobile connectivity, state sources. Gomo subscribers will be provided with the Gomo app, a digital interface having round the clock accessibility for service, payments, and onboarding for the maintenance of their account. Gomo’s customers will also be benefitted from Optus’ premium nationwide network, with complete accessibility to its 4G coverage of over 98 per cent of Australians along with the rapidly evolving 5G network.
Kelly Bayer Rosmarin, the CEO of Optus, explains that the announcements are strategic plays and have been designed for the disruption of MVNO market by offering extended choice for value-demanding clientele.
