Slack Technologies takes over enterprise directory provider Rimeto

Vancouver-based Slack Technologies Inc., has reportedly announced that it has acquired the enterprise directory reinventor, Rimeto. The deal will enable the direct integration of Rimeto’s advanced profile and directory features into Slack Technologies.

According to Ted Zagat, the Founder of Rimeto, the company envisions to help everyone in finding and understanding their colleagues in addition to the teams, projects, and groups within their organization. He has further stated that Rimeto’s collaboration with Slack is a special opportunity for enhancing the company’s product impact and market reach. Further, Rimeto is excited to help Slack evolve into a much better platform focused at bringing human collaboration to life, added Zagat.

Slack believes that Rimeto is a powerful cultural tool aimed at strengthening employee ties to each other and to their work. Slack has repeatedly heard from its employees and customers that people have been struggling hard to stay connected amid the pandemic. The company further states that everyone desires to understand the people they work with and establish context around their lives, adding that employees having weak social ties with their colleagues are not as productive or happy as employees at companies having a healthy working environment.

As per sources, Rimeto is renowned for its enterprise wide, searchable directory that automatically integrates information from across the customer company, delivering rich profiles of each employee listing their skills, experience, and ongoing projects. The company is a natural fit for Slack as it allows to search people across each attribute including project leader as well as everyone who has worked with a specified customer.

Chris Burgess, Expedia Group’s Vice President of Global IT, has stated that the company uses both, Slack and Rimeto, for providing its employees with a better way to work together by making it feasible to collaborate, access and share information. He has also stated that Expedia is thrilled to see the two platforms come together and deliver significant value across the organization.
