Twitter partners with Razorpay to integrate Tip Jar in its interface

Microblogging site Twitter has reportedly collaborated with Indian payment platform Razorpay for its feature Tip Jar that enables users to exchange money.

This feature was launched by the company last month, within a limited group of people from across the world, which included journalists, creators, nonprofits, and experts who use Twitter in English. They can now add Tip Jar to their profile for accepting tips.

The company apparently stated that the Razorpay interface will offer services to individual and organizational users across India through several payment modes like debit and credit cards, UPI, wallets, net banking among others. Twitter is also trying to add more payment gateways from across the world.

It also added that this will be a great opportunity for creators to earn money by monetizing their content from their biggest supporters.

Initially, the feature supported payment gateways like PayPal, Venmo, Patreon, Bandcamp, and Cash App.

Using third-party payment services, every user will be able to send to Twitter accounts on both Android and iOS devices. It is an easy process and is an initial step towards creating a financial support system for people on Twitter. More users will be able to add Tip Jar to their profiles across the world in the upcoming days.

Tip Jar will be presented as an icon on iOS and Android and is accessible from Android-exclusive Spaces. With Tip Jar, users can select the payment method of their choice to show support by sending the amount they choose. More importantly, Twitter takes no share from this transaction.

For the record, Twitter is a microblogging service that was founded in 2006. The company has its headquarters in San Francisco, California. Twitter users interact on the platform using tweets. Only registered users can post, retweet, and like tweets. Initially, the Tweets had a 140 character limit, which was increased to 280 characters for non-CJK languages in 2017.
